Darryl Reiter

Darryl is the founder of The Children's Technology Workshop. He is a former science teacher and Director of Information Technology at an independent school for boys in Toronto. He has been instrumental in the design, implementation and support of hundreds of networked computers since 1993. Darryl has developed applied technology curriculum for schools, provided professional development to teachers, and been an educational consultant focusing on technology since leaving teaching in 1997.

Darryl created one of the first independent school web sites in Canada for Sterling Hall in 1993 and also developed that school's own intranet in the same year. The Children's Technology Workshop has worked with the following schools in either a consulting or direct instruction manner: Upper Canada College, Branksome Hall, Royal St. George's College, Bishop Strachan School, St. Andrew College, The Junior Academy, Children's Garden School, Somerville Manor School and The Sterling Hall School all in the greater Toronto area in Canada.

Darryl and his staff of teachers and engineers presently research software titles for use at The Children's Technology Workshop. With over 100 titles from some of the most popular publisher in their library, The Children's Technology Workshop staff develops their applied technology curriculum.  Curriculum modules include project based activities in science, mathematics, language and social studies and arts.  Applications range from productivity tools for children to simulation, creativity and drill software. 

The workshop has over 200 children a week and Darryl and his staff have tested hundreds of programs with the student group and have found out with ones really have stood the test.

Darryl has sat and continues to sit on a variety of technology and education related committees. Prior to teaching, Darryl worked at the Ontario Science Centre and in geophysics for environmental reconnaissance. Darryl holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto and a Graduate Diploma in Education from Bishop's University and is presently a member of the Ontario College of Teachers.
