In response to requests for suggestions on good sites for teachers and parents, we have posted a short list of what we view as some of the very best on the web. There are many good resources on the web. We hope this will give you a good start
For Teachers

Enchanted Learning provides primary and elementary teachers with a great variety of teaching resources (nursery rhymes, astronomy, rainforests, mammals, inventors, to name a few). This site can be used by a teacher to assist in class preparation and also by the students in class. (i.e. interactive activities, games, quizzes, print out activities)

Started in 1997, A to Z Teacher Stuff is an excellent source for K -12 lesson plans (over 4,000), thematic units, teacher tips, articles, and other top educational sites. The site's has a lesson plan search engine that will make it easy to find what you need and a lively discussion forum and newsletter, if you have an interest.

Teachers.Net is a very big site with over 20 resource areas. It also has one of the most active teacher to teacher community (forums, chatrooms etc.) we have seen. The community is organized by geography (California, Canada, Australia etc.) and by topic area

Sponsored by the U.S Dept. of Education and administered by the National Library of Education, Ask Eric (stands for Educational Resources Information Centre) has an excellent library of articles on virtually every aspect of education and a question answering service with a 48 hour response time.

This is the world's largest online K-12 classroom network which allows you and your class to choose another classroom to establish a relationship with, from anywhere around the world. With over 66,000 classrooms looking for partners, you can be very specific finding a classroom that be right for you. It is easy to register and make contact with other classrooms. This is a free service with no strings.

Canadian Parent is a very well established general parenting site with a great depth of content to be of help to a parent looking for answers. This site has a very active community which will have many discussions that will be Canadian specific (i.e. camping) as well as discussions that will be meaningful to a parent anywhere.

The Parent Report website is the offshoot of the the radio program by the same name, hosted by Joanne Wilson. The site's content is organized by age and then by topic area, making it easy to find "quick read" articles on a good range of child raising topics. There's lots of articles and the discussion forums are actively used.

If you have an interest in finding further resources providing credible guidance in the area of children's learning software, The Children's Software Revue is a bi monthly publication that provides extensive coverage and evaluation of learning software. Parent Soup is a network of women providing solutions to the wide range of challenges of raising kids through feature articles, resident experts, interactive tools and a network. The content is impressive. The area pertaining to kids and education is one of the best that we have seen. Searching for very specific information by grade is easy and the scope of content within each area is excellent

The issues and challenges of raising kids in the teenage years are very specific. Parenting Today's Teen is the best site we have seen that focuses on this specific age group. If you want to start by simply gaining a better understanding of this period of life and development as a parent or a teacher, take a look.
